For contributors
Search/Graph – Open content in a pop-in view
In the Graph and Search web parts, it is now possible to open content in a pop-in view.
In the webpart editing form, in the mapping section, and when a view manipulates a URL, a new parameter is available to define the behavior of the content display when the link is opened.
Select Open the link in a pop-in option.
Now, when the user clicks on the content in the webpart, it will be displayed in a pop-in view.
( Example of a pop-in view of a Search content )
For administrators
Kudos - Be able to define kudo as public or not
When sending a Kudo ( Inside the Kudo webpart )
A new option is available: Define kudos privacy
- If Public is selected, kudo will be sent to the user and visible to all members of the organization.
- If Private is selected, kudo will be sent and not visible to anyone except the receiver and the sender.
Let's send Public and Private kudos to a user.
Let's take a look at the kudos won board from this user view: both private and public kudos are displayed.
Now, from another user perspective :
As you can see, only the public kudo is seen from another user's point of view, which is useful for congratulating someone in privacy.
Manager – In a cloned content type, be able to edit the field properties
Previously, when you were creating a content type based on a standard or cloning an existing content type, administrators could not edit the inherited properties.
This is now possible for each content type, and administrators have the right to edit these properties.
Now, every field is now editable.
This feature is especially useful to help you create custom content types based on standard and Powell content types.
Important points need to be known :
- Sealed fields cannot be deleted (it's the case of "Title", for example), but you can hide it on the creation/edit forms.
- When the content type is deployed on SharePoint, some properties are relatives to the field and others to the content type.
- Properties relative to the field: the value of the field will be the same if it's used in many content types. It still is the latest value defined and deployed that will be used everywhere.
- Properties relative to the content type: the value of the field can be different even if it's used in many content types

Translation service – Be able to define additional parameters to the Azure translate service
At the tenant administration level in Powell Manager (Environment settings), you can now define additional parameters to the Azure translator service.
These parameters will be added when a user performs a translation.
So, for example, you can now define a custom translator service to define translation rules :
Or you can manage profanity rules :
All the optional parameters can be found in the following Microsoft documentation: Translator 3.0: Translate
For everyone
Accessibility - Correction of visual elements for accessibility
We continue to work on improving Powell's accessibility:
- keyboard navigation will now be blocked when the Footer is set as collapsed
- Menu nodes visible on keyboard focus (same behaviour as the hover)
Social feature – Choose to display like on views & have the real-time value of the number of views
In the Graph and Search web parts, we have improved the management of the display of the different views for the Likes feature :
- News Tiles (Large display)
- News Tiles
- Aggregate content Tiles
- Document Tiles
- News List (Large display)
- Image Tiles
- Event Detail
- Video Tiles
- News Detail (alternative)
- News Slider (center mode)
- News Slider (with navigation)
- Idea - Tiles
- Idea - Detail
- Carpooling
- Event hub tiles
- News detail
Previously, administrators could not decide whether to show likes. To remedy this, a new option Show number of likes, is available in manager & front:
( Search settings in front )
( Search settings in manager )
- When OFF : Likes are not displayed, users cannot like the content and will not see the total number of likes.
- When On : Likes are displayed, users can like the content and will see the total number of likes.
( Search without likes activated )
( Search with likes activated )
By default, this option will stay as ON if it was previously used so that it won't impact current views.
Preferences – Directly see the chosen preferences on search webpart widget views
In the Search webpart, we made an improvement to handle Preferences.
In both manager & front, a new option is now displayed inside the edit form of Search : Display the user's selected preferences
( Search edit form inside Manager )
( Search edit form on front )
- When the Activate User Preferences option is enabled, display the user's selected preferences option is displayed.
- This option allows users to see and unselect actual preferences activated directly inside the view
( Search edit form on front )
( Zoom in on the preferences display and deselection )
Promoted search result (O365 Bookmarks) - Display the enterprise bookmark in a new component
As an enterprise, you can define links that will be promoted depending on the user's search : Manage enterprise bookmarks (needs tenant admin rights).
When a user does a search targeting one keyword, the associated bookmark will be displayed.
You can now use the new "Promoted search result" webpart that can be found in the Contextualization > Content search category on our catalog.
This webpart works in a search result page (linked to the global search box) or can be linked to a search box webpart
See the complete documentation on the webpart here : Promoted search result
