Add and manage an area

Prerequisites : To create or edit a map in Virtual Building you need at least contribution rights on the Sharepoint site where the component is deployed.

Add a new area

First you need to go on edit mode by clicking on the wheel button on the bottom right corner of the map.

On the option displayed at the bottom, click on the + button "Add area"

A popin is displayed, let you choose :

  • The shape of the area
  • The color or the texture
  • The border color

Each time you select a new option, the preview at the top displays the result :

Once you are happy with the result, you can click on the save button to add the new area on the map.

From there you can choose its size and position on the map and click on the Tape button to save it :

You can now manage your area (see next chapter).

Manage an area 

When you are in edit mode and click on an area, many options appear on the bottom to let you manage it.

Manage the settings

By clicking on "Settings" a panel is opened on the right to let you define all the information relative to the area.

Options Description

Default area name, if no translation is found, this is the one that will be displayed by default.

But, you can add translations that will be displayed depending on the user-preferred language

 

When one or many translations have been set a number is displayed on the button

 

This name is displayed :

  • on a flag when the area is opened and when the user clicks on the "show title" option

  • in a popin when the area is closed when the user hovering the area

When you start typing in the box, a list of Office 365 groups are displayed

If a user is not in the selected group, all the interactive objects become unclickable. A sign is displayed to show him that he doesn't have access.

Opened area

All objects are colored and all defined with an action behind are clickable (depending on audience rule of course)

Closed area

All the area appears as grayed and the user cannot click on object

 

 

Add an item

To associate a object to the area, you can click on the "Add item" option. You will access to the item catalog and be able to define the object role and interaction. See the complete documentation on this feature here : Add and configure an interactive item

 

Change the image

If you are not happy with the shape / texture / color of the area you can change it by clicking on the "image" button.

By doing this, you will open again the area shape builder describe on the first chapter in this documentation.

 

Resize and move

If you want to change the size of the area or its position on the map, you can use the option "Resize and move". 

When you click on this option a resize box is displayed around the area and using the corners you can change his size. 

If you stay inside the resize box you can move the area.

Once you are happy with your change you need to click on the Tape button to save the new siez and position.

 

Delete the area

If the area doesn't fit your needs, you can delete it from the map. 

To do so, you need to click on the trash button and click on confirm on the confirmation box.

If clicking on the trash button was a mistake, you can choose in the confirmation box to cancel the action. The area won't be deleted.
