🚨 Global Information 🚨

Publishing sites: Creation blocked from September 15

Microsoft recently announced that the Publishing site model is being phased out. Following this decision, Powell will no longer support the creation of new Publishing sites starting September 15.

If you already have Publishing sites, there is no impact. They will continue to work as usual, and you can still create subsites within them. Microsoft has not announced an end date for these existing sites, but all new site creation must now be done in Modern.

While existing Publishing sites remain available for now, it is strongly recommended to anticipate the change and start transitioning to Modern sooner rather than later.

⭐ Foundation Pack ⭐

AAD App Configuration: Certificate visibility

The AAD app configuration now clearly displays whether a certificate exists and shows its expiration date. This improvement, similar to what already exists in the mobile app, helps administrators manage certificates proactively and avoid potential issues, reducing the number of support requests.

Language Picker: Sorting

All language pickers across Powell have been updated. Languages defined in the site configuration (MS Var / Pow Var) now appear first, while all others are sorted alphabetically.

This makes it faster to find the most relevant languages and keeps dropdowns organized.

Webparts: Searchable Content

Content from Banner, Cold Content, Title, Text, and other webparts is now fully searchable across the intranet. This improvement makes it easier to find key information and ensures that content in these components can be quickly located when needed.

  • To enable this enhancement, you must perform an SPFX synchronization.

  • Please note: this enhancement is not compatible with Powell Quick Edit of pages (Ctrl+Alt+P).

Event-Hub:

As part of the ongoing improvements to the Event-Hub site template, we’re introducing several new features to enhance the creation of new events.

To get those updates, administrators can now simply perform a Powell list synchronization to update the Powell “system” lists.

Waiting list

Events reaching full capacity can now include a waiting list. If a spot becomes available, the first person on the list is automatically registered, eliminating manual management and ensuring fair access to popular events.

To enable the waitlist feature, you must create a Boolean field (for example, EventHubHasWaitlist) in the content type. This can be done either on the event hub list item or on the page template if it’s a page.

If the content type has already been deployed, you will need to run a synchronization again.

Once the field is deployed, you must map the new field to the webpart view. The field should be linked to the property enableWaitlist.

Unified registration for multilingual sites

Event registration is now unified across all language versions of a site. Each participant can register only once for the same event, regardless of the site language. Organizers can also see the language site from which the registration was made, providing clearer insights into participation.

Upcoming updates will include event translation, recurring events, and a new calendar view to enhance the event experience.

Wellbeing webpart: Import/Export

The Wellbeing webpart also includes Import/Export functionality, allowing administrators to replicate configurations across sites efficiently. This ensures consistent experiences and reduces the effort required to roll out updates in multiple environments.

Guided Tour:

Audience-Based Auto-Play

Published Guided Tours can now be configured to play automatically or remain dormant depending on the audience

This allows administrators to tailor the experience so that it starts automatically for relevant audiences while remaining optional for others.

To get those updates, administrators can now simply perform a Powell list synchronization to update the Powell “system” lists.

Manage Silent Modifications

When saving changes to a Guided Tour, a pop-up now asks whether the tour should be reset. Resetting forces users who have already completed the tour to experience it again, while choosing not to reset preserves their progress.

Import/Export Configuration

Guided Tours can now be imported and exported, making it easy to replicate configurations across different sites or environments. Exporting copies the configuration to the clipboard, which can then be pasted into the import field of another page, saving time and ensuring consistency.
