🚨 Global Information 🚨
SharePoint Authentication:
Removed legacy authentication support in preparation for Microsoft's retirement of the IDCRL protocol (January 31, 2026). The application now exclusively uses modern OAuth authentication for all SharePoint connections.
Reference : Migrating from IDCRL authentication to modern authentication in SharePoint
Publishing : End of Support
Microsoft is retiring the classic Publishing model and the “Allow custom scripts” setting.
There’s no immediate impact for Powell customers — existing intranets will continue to run normally, as custom scripting is already managed on our side. If needed, scripting can still be temporarily re-enabled using Microsoft’s PowerShell script.
However, Microsoft will fully remove custom script support by March 2026, which means classic components (like Script Editor or custom layouts) will stop working.
To stay secure and supported, we recommend starting your migration to the modern SharePoint experience as soon as possible.

SharePoint Online Content Security : Policy Update
As of March 1st, 2026, Microsoft has officially started enforcing the Content Security Policy (CSP) for SharePoint Online. Scripts from unauthorized domains are now being blocked, which may cause your Powell intranet components (menus, web parts, or dashboards) to malfunction or appear blank.
f you are facing a critical outage, your IT Administrator can still trigger an emergency 90-day extension via PowerShell.
Warning: This extension is a hard deadline. It expires permanently for everyone on June 1, 2026, regardless of when you activate it. For example, activating it in May will only grant you a few weeks of reprieve, not 90 days. All configurations must be finalized before this date.
Key Actions :
Powell Software has automated the deployment of trusted script sources to minimize manual actions. Two configuration methods are available depending on your environment:
-
Option 1: Automated Configuration (Recommended)
Powell Manager can automatically configure the trusted script sources through a background job during deployment.
Prerequisites: SharePoint Administrator permissions are requiredAccess to Powell Manager administration console
Steps to Configure: Launch an SPFx Extension synchronization. The background job will automatically update the authorized scripts in your SharePoint tenant
-
Option 2: Manual Configuration
If automated configuration is not possible (e.g., insufficient SharePoint Administrator permissions), trusted script sources must be configured manually through the SharePoint Admin Center.
-
Steps to Configure Manually:
Navigate to SharePoint Admin CenterAccess the Content Security Policy settings at: https://<tenant>-admin.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/online/AdminHome.aspx#/contentSecurityPolicy
Add the following trusted script sources:
-
Required URLs:
Testing and Validation
After configuring the trusted script sources (either automatically or manually), verify that all Powell Manager features and intranet components function as expected
Recommended Validation Steps:
Test all custom web parts and dashboards
Verify navigation and search functionality
Check for script-related errors in the browser's developer console
Monitor user feedback for any functionality issues

Image Picker : Need for a SPFX synchronization
Microsoft is rolling out a new way to handle the image picker in the modern Microsoft SharePoint experience.
To avoid compatibility issues or broken media selection, a synchronization and validation of our SPFx components against the latest supported Microsoft 365 picker implementation is required.

Events : Multi-SharePoint List Management
Users can now aggregate events from multiple SharePoint lists into a single, unified calendar view.
This evolution eliminates the need to navigate between different sites to track schedules, providing a consolidated overview of organizational activities.
For optimal loading speeds, it is recommended to limit the number of simultaneous calendar sources selected within the view.
Banner : Image option improvement
The Banner webpart now includes advanced image management features consistent with other media components in our widgets.
Content creators can generate AI-driven imagery directly within the webpart and precisely define a focal point for every image. This ensures that the most important visual elements remain centered and visible across various device sizes.
Site Design : Support in Automated Microsoft 365 Group Provisioning
Microsoft 365 Group creation now supports the automatic application of Site Designs during provisioning. When a new group is created, its associated SharePoint site can be instantly configured according to a pre-defined site design eliminating manual setup steps and ensuring consistent site structures across your organization.
To enable this capability, a new SiteDesignId parameter has been introduced in the AddOfficeGroup CDN endpoint.
Site : Automatic Metadata Indexing on Page Save
Page metadata is now automatically indexed when a page is saved, ensuring content stays up to date in search results without any additional manual steps

Advanced Analytics : Panel improvement & Exclude AD Groups from Analytics Tracking
The Advanced Analytics panel has been redesigned with a focus on user experience.
This update simplifies the interface to facilitate the initial setup and ongoing management of the analytics feature. The improved layout allows administrators to configure tracking parameters more efficiently, reducing the time required to deploy and manage.
Additionnally, administrators can now define exclusion rules to prevent specific Active Directory (AD) groups from being tracked.
- Exclusion Rules: Admins can select one or multiple AD groups whose data will be fully excluded from collection, storage, and reporting.
- Data from excluded groups is not collected or stored by Powell Analytics.
- Users belonging to excluded groups do not appear in any dashboards or reports, and their properties are not available for selection in analytics filters or report builders.
📱 Mobile Application 📱
Flexible authentication configuration
The Authenticator has been disabled by default for Basic applications, and Premium application administrators can now enable or disable the Authenticator directly from the Manager.
This change gives organizations greater control over their security configuration, ensuring that authentication options align with their specific needs and subscription level.
Prompt Before External App Redirect in Webview
Mobile app users are now prompted with a confirmation dialog before being redirected to an external application from a webview link, giving them full control over their navigation.
When a webview link would open an external app, a dialog is displayed asking the user to confirm before proceeding. Users can choose to continue to the external app or stay within the Powell Intranet app.

Agent list: more context at a glance
The agent list now displays key information directly in the table — no need to open each agent individually.Audience(s) — who the agent is accessible toTags — organizational labelsUsage & Feedback — interaction volume and user feedback countLast edited — last modification date
Hosting & Privacy: clearer storage configuration
Following customer feedback, the storage configuration page now clearly separates two independent areas — connected knowledge bases & conversation history, and file-based knowledge bases. Each can be configured independently to use Powell's storage or your own environment. When no configuration is set, new knowledge bases default to Powell's storage automatically.
Agent preview panel
Clicking on an agent now opens a side panel with its key information across three tabs: Info (instructions, audiences, model, knowledge bases), Usage, and Feedback — faster to review without leaving the list.
