As May brings several public holidays, our product team has taken this opportunity to focus heavily on delivering essential bug fixes and optimizing overall platform stability. While these foundational improvements took center stage this month, we are still thrilled to share a selection of key enhancements designed to improve your everyday digital workplace experience.
As of March 1st, 2026, Microsoft has officially started enforcing the Content Security Policy (CSP) for SharePoint Online. Scripts from unauthorized domains are now being blocked, which may cause your Powell intranet components (menus, web parts, or dashboards) to malfunction or appear blank.
if you are facing a critical outage, your IT Administrator can still trigger an emergency 90-day extension via PowerShell.
Warning: This extension is a hard deadline. It expires permanently for everyone on June 1, 2026, regardless of when you activate it. For example, activating it in May will only grant you a few weeks of reprieve, not 90 days. All configurations must be finalized before this date.
Key Actions :
Powell Software has automated the deployment of trusted script sources to minimize manual actions. Two configuration methods are available depending on your environment:
Option 1: Automated Configuration (Recommended)
Powell Manager can automatically configure the trusted script sources through a background job during deployment.
Prerequisites:SharePoint Administrator permissions are requiredAccess to Powell Manager administration console
Steps to Configure: Launch an SPFx Extension synchronization. The background job will automatically update the authorized scripts in your SharePoint tenant
Option 2: Manual Configuration
If automated configuration is not possible (e.g., insufficient SharePoint Administrator permissions), trusted script sources must be configured manually through the SharePoint Admin Center.
Testing and Validation After configuring the trusted script sources (either automatically or manually), verify that all Powell Manager features and intranet components function as expected
Recommended Validation Steps:
Test all custom web parts and dashboards
Verify navigation and search functionality
Check for script-related errors in the browser's developer console
Monitor user feedback for any functionality issues

Organizational Chart : Faster and deeper hierarchy exploration
Updates have been made to the Organizational Chart to improve how reporting structures are loaded and navigated.
Direct reports are now loaded asynchronously, which optimizes loading times and ensures a smoother user experience when viewing large teams.
Additionally, the chart now supports loading extended management structures, allowing users to view the management chain beyond their immediate manager.
This provides employees with a deeper, more complete view of the organizational hierarchy while maintaining optimal page performance.
Features Administration : Manage Administration Links
We have introduced a new level of governance for the settings gear menu, streamlining how configuration links and actions are managed.
Administrators can now within the Features Administration dashboard, manage the links displayed in the user settings gear using two combined criteria:
ON/OFF: Determines whether a specific link is active and allowed to exist on the Intranet gear
Audience Targeting: If the link is turned ON, the administrator can specify exactly which users or groups are permitted to see it in their settings menu.
This targeted visibility applies to action links such as:
Build your portal: Create site, Create list
Site administration: Create a Teams package
Analytics: Site usage, Page analytics, Mobile reports...
🤖 Buddy 🤖
Smarter responses: refined Powell system prompt
Powell Buddy's Powell system prompt has been updated to deliver more balanced and nuanced answers. Agents will now only respond with "I haven't found anything" when no relevant content is found at all in the knowledge base. When a source has a medium confidence score, the agent will proactively add appropriate caveats to its response, giving users a clearer picture of the reliability of the information provided.
Sources panel: keywords & confidence score
The sources panel now displays the keywords used during retrieval as well as the confidence score of each knowledge base chunk used to generate a response. This gives users greater transparency into how Buddy built its answer and how reliable the sources are.
Note: This feature is available only for knowledge bases stored on Cosmos DB.As communicated since the beginning of the year, knowledge bases currently stored on Azure Search Services will be automatically migrated to the Cosmos DB configured in your environment. No manual action is required on your end.
