The Template "Communities" aims to create a space to bring a group of people together around a common subject, in comparison with a project space that brings together a team.
The community template makes it possible to regroup people regardless of the team of which they are part. It's really the subject that matters.
The goal is to prompt discussions and conversations between the company employees regardless of their job title or department and to gather their opinions on different topics.
See the example of a community template on the Powell Intranet in the section below.
Example of a Community Template: Company Improvements
The Company Improvements page on the Powell Intranet is one example of a community template.
The page starts with a banner web part that permits adding a title and a beautiful banner image to your page. If you are a contributor 👩🌾 , check the configuration of this web part on the Page "Banner" under widgets.
The Discussions section is a Powell Discussions web-part that permits to have a space for discussions for organization employees. The advantage of this discussion web-part is that you do not have to be connected to a Yammer or a Sharepoint group to write a response. All company employees can take part in a discussion directly on the page. If you are a contributor 👩🌾, you can check how to configure this web part on the page Powell Discussion.
The Members section is a Powell web part. This web part can be used to display profile cards to represent members of SharePoint, Microsoft 365 security, or Yammer groups. Users can be added or removed without the need to go to the SharePoint back office.
As you lick the "see more" button, it will open a pop-in allowing you to chat with members, send them an email, and remove or add additional members.
The Poll web-part permits to ask questions on different topics and gather some information from company employees. If you are a contributor 👩🌾, you can check the configuration of this web part on the page "Poll".
The next events web part is a content-search web part. With this web part, you can choose to display specific events relevant to the subject of the page. If you are a contributor 👩🌾, check the page content search to see the configuration of this web part and all the possible displays and actions that come along with it.
Latest Documents is also a content-search web part. With various actions linked to this web part, you can choose to display specific documents related to the subject of the page.
The same goes for the Media Gallery, which is also a content search web-part that allows displaying images related to the page.
