⚙️ Accessing the Settings Panel
To configure your Advanced Analytics module, you must access the features management dashboard directly from your intranet:
Click on the gear icon located in the Powell Intranet header to open the Settings menu.
Select Features dashboard from the menu.
In the Features management window, locate the Advanced Analytics card and click the Manage button.
This will open the main configuration panel shown below.
🗄️ Data Storage
This section indicates where your intranet analytics data is currently being stored and processed.
By default, it will display "You use Powell storage".
Click Manage to configure custom data storage endpoints, such as connecting your own Azure Application Insights environment. (For detailed instructions on custom endpoints, refer to our technical setup guide).
🔐 Manage Access & Privacy
Control who can view the analytics dashboards and whose data is collected.
Define Dashboard Access
Use the dropdown menu to define the minimum permission level required to access the Advanced Analytics dashboard.
Example: Setting this to "At least site contributors" ensures that only users with contribution rights or higher can view the metrics for a given site, protecting sensitive engagement data from standard visitors.
People Groups Not Tracked in Analytics
To ensure compliance with your internal privacy policies or to prevent skewed data (e.g., excluding the IT testing team), you can exclude specific users from being tracked.
Use the search bar to find and add specific Microsoft Entra groups (formerly Azure AD groups).
Any user belonging to the selected groups will have their activity ignored by the Advanced Analytics tracking engine.
🎛️ Display & Dashboard Toggles
Use these toggles to customize the user experience and control the rollout of new features (Opt-out strategy).
| Toggle Name | What it does |
| Show only user sites | Restricts the site picker in the analytics dashboard. When enabled, users will only see data for sites they have explicit access rights to. |
| Show only sites where analytics is on | Cleans up the dashboard by filtering out legacy sites or sites where the tracking engine has not been enabled. |
| Show Active information in the header | (Feature Toggle) Decide whether to display the Active Views and Active Users metrics directly in the header of your intranet pages. Disabling this hides the metrics from the end-user interface. |
| Show Sentiments in the header | (Feature Toggle) Decide whether to display the 5-point Sentiment interaction bar (Very Dissatisfied to Very Satisfied) in the page header. Disabling this reverts to standard interactions. |
💡 Good to know: New engagement features like "Active information" and "Sentiments" are enabled by default (Opt-out) to provide immediate value to your Internal Comms teams. You can disable them here at any time if your organization is not ready to deploy them.
📊 Tracked Data and Filters
Click the Manage button in this section to define advanced tracking parameters. This allows you to configure specific metadata mapping and custom filters that will be available within your Analytics Dashboard, helping you segment your data (e.g., filtering engagement by Department or Country).
