Understanding the Contents Tab

The Contents tab is the daily compass for Internal Communications, HR teams, and Site Owners. While the Traffic tab shows if people are on the intranet, the Contents tab shows exactly what they are reading and how they are reacting to it.

This is where you move from basic platform analytics to actionable content strategy, using Powell's proprietary engagement metrics.

📊 Content Distribution & Activity

The widgets on the left side of your dashboard give you a quick health check on your publishing efforts and content consumption patterns.

  • Views by type of content: A visual donut chart that breaks down your page views by template. This helps you understand what format your employees prefer consuming (e.g., standard Site Pages, News/ActualitĂ©s, or Events).

  • Content additions and modifications: A timeline chart displaying the rhythm of your content creators. It tracks how many new pages are published or updated over time, allowing you to monitor the vibrancy and freshness of your intranet.

🏆 The Content Ranking Table: Measuring True Engagement

The core of this tab is the Content ranking table. This is not just a list of pages; it is a detailed breakdown of your content's momentum and reception, utilizing our advanced metrics.

Here is how to read the data columns:

1. Active Views & Active Users

To give you an accurate picture of current engagement, the dashboard uses dynamic periode indicators:

  • Active Views: The total number of hits on a specific page within the last selected period. High active views indicate strong intensity and returning readers.

  • Active Users: The unique number of individuals who accessed the page in thethe last selected period. High active users indicate a broad reach across your audience.

2. Sentiment Analysis

Move beyond the simple "Like" button. If the Sentiment feature is enabled on your portal, this column helps you understand exactly how your audience is receiving your content. It provides a qualitative assessment that allows communicators to gauge the overall mood and feel the actual impact of their messaging. This makes it easy to see if a new policy or corporate announcement is being warmly welcomed, or if it requires further clarification and follow-up.

3. Multilingual Tracking (Nested Rows)

If your organization uses Powell's multilingual translation features, the dashboard automatically groups translated variations of the same article under a single master row.

  • Click the dropdown arrow next to a page title to expand it.

  • You can now see the exact breakdown of engagement for each specific language version (e.g., comparing the Active Users on the EN-US version vs. the FR-FR version of the Homepage).

4. Social Interactions

Review standard social engagement metrics at a glance, including Likes, Comments, and Shares, to identify which topics are generating the most active discussion and advocacy among your employees.

🚀 The Strategic Purpose of this Tab

By combining reach (Active Users), intensity (Active Views), and reaction (Sentiment), you can fine-tune your internal communications strategy:

  • Identify Content Requiring Clarification: If a new HR policy has high Active Users but a poor sentiment reception, you know immediately that the message wasn't clearly understood and that you need to publish a clarifying FAQ or follow-up article.

  • Monitor Global Reach: Use the multilingual nested rows to ensure your critical corporate announcements are successfully reaching your regional offices in their local languages.

  • Clean Up Outdated Pages: Sort your table by the lowest Active Views to easily spot outdated or irrelevant content that should be archived to keep your intranet search results clean.
